The AI MarketingTools We ActuallyUse Every Day

How a small agency leverages AI to compete with much larger marketing teams.

By Kurt Abrahams · Founder, Uku Lab

Most articles about AI marketing tools are written by people who have never actually used them in a client environment.

As the founder of Uku Lab, a design-focused marketing consultancy, I'm constantly testing new AI tools to see which ones genuinely improve productivity and which are simply riding the hype cycle. The reality is that most don't make the cut.

Over the past year, we've built websites, created campaigns, produced videos, developed business strategies, generated content, and even shipped software products using a relatively small collection of AI tools. Here are the platforms we actually use every day.

The Stack at a Glance

8 Tools, One Stack

Summary of the eight AI tools Uku Lab uses, including each tool's role and what it is best for.

Our Strategic Brain

Claude

If I could only keep one AI tool, it would probably be Claude. While many people associate AI with content generation, we use Claude primarily for strategic work and design.

The biggest advantage is its ability to maintain context across large projects. Instead of asking Claude to write content, we use it as a strategic partner that helps refine ideas before execution.

Because Claude holds the full picture of a brand in a single conversation, we can move from a messy brief to a coherent strategy without losing the thread. It remembers the audience, the positioning, and the constraints we set at the start, so the recommendations stay aligned with the goal instead of drifting.

In practice, this is where most of our thinking happens before anything reaches a client. We pressure test ideas, challenge assumptions, and shape the narrative until the strategy is sharp. Only then do we move into execution, which makes everything downstream faster and more consistent.

What we use it for

  • Go-to-market strategies
  • Marketing plans
  • Positioning & messaging
  • Competitor analysis
  • Investor presentations
  • Campaign concepts

Common Questions

Is Claude better than ChatGPT for marketing strategy?
For deep strategic work we prefer Claude because it holds context across a long project and reasons carefully through positioning, audience, and messaging. We use ChatGPT more for fast operational output, so most agencies benefit from using both rather than choosing one.
What do you actually use Claude for at an agency?
We use Claude as a strategic partner: shaping go-to-market plans, refining positioning and messaging, analyzing competitors, and pressure testing campaign concepts before anything reaches a client.
02

The Operating System

ChatGPT

While Claude helps with strategy, ChatGPT acts as our operational hub. Almost every project starts here.

The speed at which we can move from idea to execution has fundamentally changed the way we work. Tasks that previously required multiple tools can now be completed in a single workflow.

What makes ChatGPT so useful is its range. It is equally comfortable drafting a landing page, structuring an SEO plan, building a customer persona, or untangling a technical problem, which lets a small team cover a lot of ground in a single day.

We treat it as a fast first draft engine rather than a final authority. Every output gets reviewed and refined by a human, but starting from a strong draft removes the blank page problem and keeps projects moving.

What we use it for

  • Research
  • Content creation
  • SEO planning
  • Customer personas
  • Website copy
  • Technical problem solving

Common Questions

What is the best AI tool for everyday marketing tasks?
For day-to-day execution we rely on ChatGPT because of its range. It can draft website copy, structure an SEO plan, build customer personas, and solve technical problems, which lets a small team cover a lot of ground quickly.
Can ChatGPT replace a marketing team?
No. ChatGPT speeds up first drafts and research, but every output still needs human review and judgment. It removes the blank page problem rather than the need for skilled marketers.
03

Turning Ideas Into Products

Replit

One of the most transformative tools we've adopted is Replit. Historically, agencies needed developers to build prototypes, landing pages, internal tools, and software concepts. Today, many of those projects can be launched in days rather than months.

For agencies, speed is often the biggest competitive advantage. Replit lets us test ideas before investing significant development resources.

For an agency, this changes the economics of experimentation. Instead of scoping a long development project to test a single idea, we can stand up a working prototype, put it in front of real users, and learn quickly whether it is worth pursuing.

It also closes the gap between marketing and product. When a campaign needs a custom landing page, an interactive tool, or a small web app to support it, we can build and ship it ourselves rather than waiting on outside developers.

What we use it for

  • Company websites
  • Landing pages
  • Internal business apps
  • SaaS prototypes
  • AI-powered tools
  • Customer-facing experiences

Common Questions

Can you build a website or app without developers using AI?
Yes. With Replit we build landing pages, internal tools, prototypes, and small web apps without a traditional development cycle, which lets us test ideas in days instead of months.
Why does a marketing agency use Replit?
Replit closes the gap between marketing and product. When a campaign needs a custom landing page or interactive tool, we can build and ship it ourselves rather than waiting on outside developers.

Want a stack like this working for you?

We ship campaigns, sites, and products in weeks, not quarters.

Accelerating Creative Direction

Claude Design

Creative work still requires human judgment. However, Claude Design has become a valuable tool for accelerating the early stages of the design process.

Rather than replacing designers, it gives our team a stronger starting point and lets us iterate much faster.

The value is in the early, exploratory phase where speed matters most. We can generate multiple directions for a layout or a page structure in minutes, then bring our designers in to refine the strongest option with real craft and judgment.

This keeps the human at the center of the creative work while removing the slow, repetitive parts. The result is more iterations, faster feedback, and stronger final designs for our clients.

What we use it for

  • Website concepts
  • Landing page structures
  • User experience ideas
  • Visual layouts
  • Creative directions

Common Questions

Can AI replace a designer?
No. Claude Design accelerates the early, exploratory phase by generating layout and structure options quickly, but our designers still refine the strongest direction with real craft and judgment.
How do you use AI in the design process?
We use it to generate multiple creative directions in minutes, then bring human designers in to polish the best option. This means more iterations and faster feedback without sacrificing quality.
05

Research Without the Noise

Perplexity

Traditional search often feels like digging through an endless pile of content. Perplexity has become our preferred research platform because it provides sourced answers and reduces the time required to gather information.

Whether we're researching competitors, validating market assumptions, or gathering statistics for a client project, Perplexity consistently saves hours of work.

The difference is trust. Because Perplexity cites its sources, we can quickly verify a claim instead of taking an answer at face value, which matters when we are building strategy or content that a client will stake their reputation on.

It has effectively replaced the first hour of most research projects. We use it to map a market, understand a competitor, or get up to speed on an unfamiliar industry before we go deeper with primary research.

What we use it for

  • Competitor research
  • Market validation
  • Industry statistics
  • Trend analysis
  • Fact-checking with sources
  • Quick topic deep-dives

Common Questions

Is Perplexity better than Google for research?
For research we prefer Perplexity because it returns sourced, summarized answers instead of a list of links. Because it cites its sources, we can verify a claim quickly, which matters when the research informs client strategy.
What is Perplexity used for in marketing?
We use Perplexity to map markets, research competitors, validate assumptions, and get up to speed on unfamiliar industries before going deeper with primary research.

The Future of Content Production

Omni & Kling

Video has become one of the most important content formats in modern marketing. Tools like Omni and Kling let us produce assets that once required a full production team.

What once took a crew can now often be created by a small agency in a fraction of the time.

AI video tools have lowered the barrier to high quality motion content. Concepts that once required a budget, a crew, and weeks of turnaround can now be explored and produced by a small team in far less time.

We use them to move quickly from idea to visual, whether that is a product teaser, a social clip, or a rough cut to align a client before a larger production. The point is not to replace great video work but to make more of it possible.

What we use it for

  • Product videos
  • Social media content
  • Explainer videos
  • Brand storytelling
  • Visual concepts

Common Questions

Can you make marketing videos with AI?
Yes. Tools like Omni and Kling let a small team produce product teasers, social clips, and concept videos that once required a budget and a full crew, in far less time.
Do AI video tools replace a production team?
Not for high-end production. We use them to move quickly from idea to visual and to align clients before larger shoots. They make more video possible rather than replacing skilled video work.
07

Fast Execution

Canva AI

Not every project requires a designer. For social graphics, presentations, event assets, and quick-turn marketing materials, Canva AI has become a valuable part of our workflow.

Speed matters, especially when supporting multiple clients simultaneously.

The strength of Canva AI is throughput. When a client needs a deck by the afternoon or a batch of social posts across multiple formats, it lets us produce polished, on brand assets without pulling a designer off deeper creative work.

Brand templates keep everything consistent, so the team can move fast without sacrificing quality. It is the tool we reach for when the priority is volume and speed rather than fully bespoke design.

What we use it for

  • Social media graphics
  • Presentations & decks
  • Event assets
  • Quick-turn marketing materials
  • Brand templates
  • Team collaboration

Common Questions

What is Canva AI best for?
Canva AI is best for throughput: social graphics, presentation decks, event assets, and quick-turn marketing materials. We reach for it when the priority is volume and speed rather than fully bespoke design.
When should you use Canva AI instead of a designer?
Use Canva AI for fast, on-brand assets like a deck needed by the afternoon or a batch of social posts. Reserve designers for deeper creative work where craft matters most.
08

The Automation Engine

GoHighLevel

While not strictly an AI tool, GoHighLevel is the foundation for much of our marketing automation. Combined with AI-generated content and automation workflows, it lets small teams operate at a much larger scale.

GoHighLevel is where strategy becomes a system. Once the messaging and creative are ready, we use it to build the funnels, automations, and follow up sequences that turn attention into leads and leads into customers.

Combined with AI-generated content, it lets a small team run sophisticated, multi channel marketing operations that would traditionally require a much larger staff. Automation handles the repetitive work so the team can focus on strategy and results.

What we use it for

  • CRM management
  • Lead nurturing
  • Webinar funnels
  • Email automation
  • Landing pages
  • Campaign tracking

Common Questions

What is GoHighLevel used for?
GoHighLevel is a marketing automation platform we use to build funnels, CRM workflows, email sequences, and follow ups that turn attention into leads and leads into customers.
How does AI fit into marketing automation?
We combine AI-generated content with GoHighLevel automations so a small team can run sophisticated, multi channel campaigns. Automation handles the repetitive work so the team focuses on strategy.

Final Thoughts

The agencies that thrive over the next decade won't necessarily be the largest. They'll be the ones who learn how to combine human creativity with AI-powered execution.

At Uku Lab, AI has allowed us to move faster, test ideas more quickly, and deliver more value to clients without sacrificing quality. And we're only at the beginning of what's possible.
